Dr Rob Kanagaratnam
Rob & Tracey both graduated from the University of Otago in 1994 and 1992 respectively. They spent eleven years in private dentistry in England before returning to NZ in 2005 to start a practice of their own.
Evolving with Dentistry
Rob enjoys all aspects of clinical dentistry and takes pride in the fact that Aesthetic Dental can offer nearly all services in house without the need for referral. “I have a particular interest in Implant dentistry and have been involved in this for the last 15 years. Dentistry is constantly evolving and changing and it requires us to keep up and ahead of the ball. We have invested heavily in technology such as our CEREC CAD CAM computer which allows us to deliver crowns/ceramic restorations to patients in ONE day.”
Outside the surgery Rob enjoys golf, skiing, fly fishing and making a drop of wine. ” Tracey and I believe it is important to try and achieve the correct work-life balance as this makes us better at what we do.”
Dr Tracey Eales
Tracey graduated from the university of Otago in 1992. Tracey spent eleven years in private dentistry in England before returning to NZ in 2005 to start a practice with Rob. Growing up in the King Country Tracey studied radiography for two years at Waikato Hospital before pursuing dentistry ay Otago. After graduation Tracey worked for two years as Dental House Surgeon at Invercargill Hospital before heading to the UK with Rob.
Tracey on Dentistry
Tracey has always enjoyed all aspects of dentistry and her experience in radiography, hospital dentistry and years of private practice allow her to provide a broad spectrum of clinical skills and knowledge for her patients. “Rob and I both feel it is imperative to invest in continuing education-not just for ourselves but the entire practice.”
“Away from the practice I enjoy gardening, skiing, reading, cooking and making a spot of olive oil for ourselves. Our two golden retrievers keep us fit and healthy.”
Dr. James Talbot
Graduated Otago Dental School 1993 with credit, after gaining several prizes for academic excellence worked in dental hospitals in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK before passing Fellowship Exams to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 1998 (in Oral Surgery) whilst working for 7 years in a progressive private practice in Richmond, London.
Background in Dentistry
James studied at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London, gaining a Masters in Conservative Dentistry (with Distinction) in 2005, and receiving the 3M prize for clinical and academic achievement, James worked as an Associate Specialist in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal London Hospital before returning to New Zealand July 2006
James is also currently a member of NZDA, British Society of Restorative Dentistry, Australasian Osseointergration Society, and a member of International Team for Implantology. James strives to provide the highest quality dental care based on evidenced based research and clinical experience. He believes that prevention and accurate diagnosis are the corner stones of modern dentistry.
James is a keen skier, who loves the great outdoors and enjoys good wine and good food.
Dr. Donna Holder
Originally form Oamaru, Donna Holder studied Dentistry and graduated in 1998 from Otago University . She worked at Christchurch hospital for a year as a Dental House Surgeon, before traveling and working overseas. Her love of NZ bought her back to Christchurch , where she worked in private practice for 12 years. The recent Christchurch earthquakes meant Donna and her family have relocated north to the Hawke’s Bay and she has now joined us at Aesthetic Dental part-time.
Donna on Dental Care
Donna is passionate about giving patients her full attention and providing high quality of care. She is interested in all aspects of dentistry, including crown/bridge, the new Cerec crowns (done in one day), root canals and general restorative work to maintain healthy mouths.
Outside of work, family keeps her busy. Donna is married to Richard, they have 3 young children and a black Labrador. In her spare time she fits in running, cycling, reading and the odd movie.
