- Toothache that is preventing sleeping combined with swelling or fever, which is not manageable with painkillers

- Facial swelling affecting your vision, breathing or preventing mouth opening
- Trauma causing loss of consciousness, double vision, or vomiting
- Severe or continuous bleeding
